Darcie is a visual artist and performer whose practice spans movement, writing, sculpture, sound, illustration and community work. Rooted in ritual and play, her work often explores themes of loss, absurdity and dark humour.
She studied Fine Art for her BA, and since then has travelled and worked internationally, collaborated with communities across Liverpool, set up a complementary therapies business in memory of her mother – and even taught life drawing classes to stag dos. She has painted murals, played in bands, cleaned dental clinics and gardened on farms. These experiences have shaped her belief that every part of the machine is valid.
At Kindred, Darcie is the collaborating communities assistant, supporting projects, partnerships and events across Liverpool City Region. She has also worked on the Young Ideas strand of Kindred, alongside Bethan and Emma, helping to develop Ideas Work and Occupy. These programmes support young people across the city to come together, share space and grow ideas rooted in creativity, care and social value.
Beyond this, her time has been spent engaging with community activism and training in running campaigns, alongside circus equilibristics and dancing freely at any opportunity.
These threads of experiences continue to inform and influence her creative and collaborative practice as an artist, but also as a person.
